External excel links not updating
Select a workbook and click Update Values to update the links to this workbook.
On the Data tab, in the Connections group, click Edit Links to launch the Edit Links dialog box. If you didn't update the links, you can still update the links here. If you don't want to display the alert and update the links automatically, Click Startup Prompt, select the third option, and click OK.
…In versions 2003 or before: Tools scroll to the General section and select Ask to update automatic links.
2 Updates remote references only, not external references. To easily access your workbook module, in Excel versions 2003 or before, find the little Excel workbook icon near the upper left corner of your workbook window, usually just to the immediate left of the File menu option.Close all open dialog boxes and select a linked cell to verify that its formula points to the updated source workbook.If you need to manually update the data in linked cells again while the book is open, press "Refresh All" on the Data tab.The first time you open a workbook, you might need to click "Enable Content" in the security warning, but thereafter the process works automatically.If you've moved or renamed your source workbook, however, you need to update the link manually by directing Excel to the source's new location.
